Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Willis Louie, born November 15, 1930 went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on August 23, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Maye, sons Brian (Alisa), Scott (Cindy) and Stephen (Colleen), grandchildren Mark and Amanda, Matthew and Christian, and Davis, Olivia and Elle, sisters Helen Lim and Beatrice (Gerald) Delane, a large extended family and many friends.

Born in Vancouver to parents, Hok Yat and Young Shee Louie, Willis attended Britannia High School.  He went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia where he played basketball for the UBC Thunderbirds and was a Big Block recipient.  As a businessman, Willis started and operated a successful insurance brokerage, Willis Louie Ltd., which recently celebrated 50 years in business.  Willis put his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus in 1970 and diligently pursued his relationship with God for over 40 years.  He enjoyed history, jazz, the beautiful outdoors and sports.  An avid salmon fisherman, he enthusiastically shared this passion with family and friends for many years on the crystal clear waters of Pender Harbour and numerous spots around Vancouver Island.  In the 1950’s and 60’s, he was an active golfer and played in various Chinese golf tournaments in BC, Washington, Oregon and California.  Willis was a proud member of the downtown YMCA and regularly jogged through Stanley Park three times a week for over forty years.

Willis was passionate about the things he loved and believed in.  He intensely loved his family and was a faithful friend.  He valued discipline, loyalty and integrity, and expressed generosity to all who knew him.  He will be deeply missed, but we take comfort knowing that he is “...absent from the body...present with the Lord.”
