It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Willie, who went peacefully in his sleep at the age of 81. Willie was born in Rangoon, Burma, and had many colourful stories of his youth growing up as part of a family with 9 children. He went on to live in India and Scotland, working as a ship’s engineer, before making Canada his home in the mid-1960’s. He spent most of his life in Canada working for the Federal Government in the Department of Public Works. He took up tennis in his 40’s, which became a great passion of his. Though suffering a stroke in 2001, his friendly, outgoing personality was never lost, and he could still be seen gallivanting all over Richmond and Vancouver to restaurants and fairs. His move to a nursing home just brought a wider circle of people to enjoy his smile and laugh. Selfless, optimistic, irreplaceable, Willie is survived by his wife Camille, siblings George, Roland and Iris, children Glenn (Cheryl) and Charissa (Robert) and three lovely grandsons Avery, Bailey and Liam. Willie was the light in our lives, and he will be greatly missed. Funeral mass at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Richmond, BC. Viewing prior to service. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be graciously accepted.
