Haslam, William (Bill) Andrew passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024, in New Westminster, BC at the age of 92.  Predeceased by his loving wife Ruby, his parents, Ian and Mary and sisters Aileen and Eva. He will be lovingly remembered by daughter Tracey (Ernie) and son Michael, granddaughters Madeline and Naomi as well as many other family and friends.

Bill had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need.  He was known for his sense of humor and his smile.  Bill was born in Alert Bay, Cormorant Island, BC and raised in the coastal logging communities that once existed along the shores of Baker, Guilford and Broughton Islands.  Bill worked in the logging industry until the mid 1960s where he then relocated to Vancouver.  He went to the University of British Columbia and became a Professional Mechanical Engineer.  After graduating, he worked for Chevron Canada for 29 years, until his retirement.  He enjoyed his retirement golfing, traveling in his motorhome and spending time with family and friends.

A special thank you to the staff at Royal City Manor for their care and compassion in looking after Bill for the last 7 years of his life. A Celebration of Life will be held August 10, 2024, at 10 am with a reception to follow at the Kearney Funeral Chapel at 219 6th Street, New Westminster, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Variety the Children’s Charity of BC .
