Wilfred (Wilf) Gerald Zinger has put down his hammer for the last time. He passed away peacefully on August 18, 2018, after a short battle with cancer. Wilf was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan to Verena and Andrew Zinger on January 27, 1935.
He is survived by his wife Alma, his children, Linda (John) Tamis, Cheryl Cumiford, Kevin (Bonnie) Zinger, Charlene (Ted) Prystupa, Jenny (Steve) Kearns, Janice (Scott) Tingren, Sharon Klassen and Craig (Kris) Klassen along with 21 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. As well as his brothers and sisters, Harold, Earl, Keith, Doreen, Linda. And by his in- laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his first wife Doreen, his son Ron, son-in-law Steve and sister Eileen.
Wilf lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; visiting family and friends, spending time with his children and his grandchildren, dropping by for a hot chocolate, talking to people he just met, fixing or building anything and keeping in touch with people over the phone. There is probably not a person that he knew that he didn’t help build, renovate, fix or offer advice in their home improvement to. He was always willing to help anyone at anytime. He was a remarkable person.
A Catholic funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Precious Blood Parish, 17475 59th Avenue, Cloverdale at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made In Wilf’s memory to Precious Blood Parish for their “Building Fund” as Wilf over the years had spent time fixing, upgrading or building things for the church or to the charity of your choice. He would also want you to call someone you haven’t talked to in a long time to say “Hi”. We will truly miss you Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Wilf, Uncle Wilf and Mr. Zinger.
