It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our father, Wesley Richard Caldwell. Gone to be with Anita, his beloved wife of 59 years, Wesley leaves his children; Donna (Ed), Kathryn & Steven, granddaughters, Jessica & Courtney (Len), great grandsons Davis and Coen. Also survived by brother-in-law Denis LeGal (Berthe), sisters-in-law Yvette Poirier (Edgar), Dianne Trudeau, Monique Paulhus (Ray), Lorraine Gauvreau (Louis), Gisele Fiola & many life-long friends. Dad was born in Regina Saskatchewan, only child of Lydia & Richard Caldwell and was baptized by family friend Tommy Douglas. Dad was a member of the Air Cadets and became a licensed pilot, and the proud owner of an old Tiger Moth. When Dad first saw mom on the ski slope of Hollyburn he said, "That's the girl I am going to marry". In 1957 they bought their building lot in Dollarton, North Vancouver and in 1958 moved into the home where they would live for the next 54 years. Their love of skiing was passed on to their children and many family weekends and vacations were spent on the slopes. As well, Dad enjoyed camping, boating and traveling, spending many vacations in Europe. Dad worked as an electrical engineer for the City of Vancouver for 36 years during which time he worked on the revitalization of Gastown. A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Langley on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Internment to follow at a later time.
