It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Hume Adams. He passed away with his family by his side, under the care of the amazing nurses, doctors and caregivers at Burnaby General Hospital who we give much appreciation and thanks to. In addition, we would like to give thanks to Dr. Lim at Collingwood Medical Clinic for his many years of care and kindness towards Walter.

Walter was one month short of his 89th birthday. He left behind his devoted wife of 63 years, Valerie, his two daughters Sharon (John) and Sandi (Gordon) and his five grandchildren Michael, Mathew, Emma, Kate and Megan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Walter was born in Brock, Saskatchewan to Mary and Leslie Adams. He was the youngest of six siblings Arnold, Leonard, Harry, Boyd, Ada and Bessie all of which have previously passed on.   He left the farming community at 17 and moved on his own to Vancouver to make a life for himself. He worked for years as a tow truck driver and a Hydro armoured car driver and finished off his working career at BC Transit. He enjoyed building things and could always find a way to fix anything that was broken. He enjoyed gardening, camping and playing hockey, baseball, curling and golf.  He also enjoyed spending time in his home which he lovingly updated and maintained throughout the 61 years he lived there. His family has many fond memories of his good-natured teasing and his sense of humor. He will be missed dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Kearney Columbia-Bowell Funeral Chapel at 219 6th Street, New Westminster. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Burnaby Hospital Foundation ( www.bhfoundation.ca ).
