Walter Edwin Nordholm

Walter Edwin Nordholm passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, in Vancouver at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his sister Frances, brothers Dennis and Carman, and his grandson Brendan.

 He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marlene; children Tracey, Wanda (Wayne)Lawson, Edwin (Ashley), and Kenneth (Rina); sisters Laura Davidson and Sherry Burgmann; grandchildren Aidan, Ken, Christopher, Gareth, Lauren, Chelsea, Lindsay, Jocelyn and Nadine; along with ten great-grandchildren and extended family members. 

 Walter was born in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan, and moved with his family to Vancouver in 1952 after the passing of his father. Walter was a generous, positive person, with an enthusiasm for life and concern for his fellow man. He loved people and enjoyed working with youth, encouraging them to many successes. 

He got involved with Boy Scouts as a child and then became a Scout leader, volunteering for over forty years, sharing his knowledge of the outdoors and the natural beauty of BC. 

 His working years were spent at BC Tel/Telus. Throughout the years his curiosity and desire to explore led him to take his family on many camping and road trips, and upon retirement, in 1996 he was able to enjoy travelling by motorcoach with Marlene. They also travelled abroad and he took trips to Zimbabwe to help build a hospital and school. Walter liked to spend as much time as he could in his trailer at Camp Sunrise on the Sunshine Coast - volunteering with youth programs, fishing with grandkids, working on projects, and relaxing at the waterfront.

  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8 at 11:00 at the Salvation Army Cariboo Hill Temple at 7195 Cariboo Rd in Burnaby.

His generous nature, his welcoming smile, and loving spirit will be missed.
