With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Virginia (Gini) Krapiec, wife for 42 years of Joe Krapiec and mother of Courtney and Cindy. Gini is the beloved sister of Bruce, Elizabeth, Janice, and Leanda Duncan. She is predeceased by parents Stewart and Margaret Duncan (Whitehead); and by grandparents William and Joan Duncan (Stewart), and Harry and Florence Whitehead (Jephcott). Gini is also survived by her cousins Terry, Robbie, Gary and Jamie, as well as nephews and nieces Allison (Gordon), Sandy, Kellie, Christopher, William, Samantha, and Dyana. Born in Ottawa, Gini was attending Carleton University when she met and married Joe, her loving husband and biggest supporter. A 35-year career with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) brought her and Joe to Vancouver, where she served as Western Canada Director-General.  After winning her first fight with cancer in 1995, Gini became an advocate for support groups and health issues at the GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre, Vancouver General Hospital, and Vancouver Women’s Hospital.  Her com-passionate heart made her a pillar of support for countless individuals in many different walks of life. Along with a passion for travel, she used every opportunity to extend her collection of jewellery and left shoes. Please join us for a Celebration of her Life on Thursday May 8, 2014 from 1 to 4 pm at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. In Memory of Gini’s excellent fashion sense, please wear business casual (no jeans) and a touch of purple. To follow in her footsteps (hah!) and honour her passion for the wonderful work done at GF Strong, we ask that instead of flowers, donations be made to the GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre: Patient Programs, In Memory of Virginia Krapiec, c/o BC Rehabilitation Foundation.
