Victoria Kathleen Yvonne Sheinin passed away on May 14th, 2021, at the age of 82. Predeceased by former husbands: Bob Watson, Doug Reece, and survived by Joe Sheinin.

Victoria is lovingly remembered by her son Grant Sheinin, and partner Allan O’Shea, and Grand-puppy Lucy Sheinin-O’Shea. She was very proud of her Daughter, Bonnie (Wayne) Munro; Grandchildren: Derek Munro and Nicole (Adam) Lowen; Great Grandchildren: Carson, Celeste, and Elise Lowen. Daughter, Gale (Greg) James; Grandchildren: Matthew James and Laura James, and Great-Grandson: Vincent Blais. Brother-in-law, Thomas Watson; sister-in-law, Maria Siccardi and nieces, Cristy and Elisa Watson. Niece in Edmonton, Marion Daly. She will be missed by her friend, Lynne (Patricia) Craig. She is fondly remembered as a surrogate mother and aunt to many.

Victoria survived a difficult childhood, living for a time at an Orphanage in Alberta. She gained strength from this experience and was always a strong force in the lives of those around her, advocating for her friends and family, especially people of colour and in the LGBTQ+ community. Victoria is remembered for her sense of humour, her way of elevating simple things into a celebration, and for her devotion to her son. She worked as a Chef, a role that was not typical for women at that time, leading the way for a successful career in the Restaurant, Hotel and Catering industry. She was fiercely independent and admired for her ability to find grace in tragedy and to rise above the hard-knocks she was dealt in life. A celebrated dancer in her youth, she loved cooking, white gardenias, and fashionable hats.

Victoria had a penchant for making people laugh and her zest for life was strong, as was her love for her son, Grant. This past year was made all the more difficult and challenging with the onset of Dementia, navigating the COVID pandemic and two terrible falls. In her son’s words: We used to laugh and talk for hours, until you couldn’t. To hear your voice like it used to be – so sweet, so soft, so clear, so wise. That voice that has been slowly silenced over the past year, but your legacy will carry on and the memories will continue to bring a smile and lift all our spirits, like always.
