With family at his side, on Sunday, September 30, 2018, Victor Wierzbicki, passed away peacefully in Surrey Memorial Hospital at the age of 97. During his remarkable, nearly 10-decade life, Victor, under threat of death, escaped Poland, to become a Royal Naval Officer in WW2, lived in 5 continents, found a copper mine and was president of various organizations including The Polish Veterans Association in Vancouver. His wisdom and respect transcended generations; his cheerful vibrancy and warm heart touched everyone he met. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Viva, sons Michael, Julian and Mark, his 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, as well as a large extended family that includes 3 generations of numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Victor is predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, 5 sisters and wife Emily Margaret (Peggy). A funeral Mass will be held on October 10, 2018 @ 10:30 am at Saint Casimir’s Parish, 1187 East 27th Avenue, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to Kopernicus Lodge, would be appreciated.
