It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anton (Tony) Maglica.
Tony, was a dedicated and long-time member of Grain Workers Union, Local 333 working for BC Terminals.
Tony was born in Golac, Slovenia in 1934. After WWII, Tony immigrated to Canada. He married Julie and moved to Prince Rupert working for BC Terminal Elevators. They moved to Vancouver and settled in Kitsilano with Julie’s daughter Debbie and then had their son, Steven in August 1964. Upon his retirement, Tony moved into Cypress Place in 1994 where he lived until November 2023.
Sadly, Tony was preceded by his son Steve who passed in March 2022. They were very close and Steve visited Tony every week until his passing. Tony was one of five children predeceased by his parents and brothers with Franka his only remaining sibling.
Tony's is warmly remembered by his family in Australia, sister Franka Benigar, her sons Jack, Branko, Rony and their families and his sister-in-law Glenda who was married to his brother Milan, and their children, Peter, Simon, and Theresa and their families. Tony is also remembered by family and friends in Slovenia.
Tony had a zest for life. He enjoyed travel and had many fond memories of his visits to Australia and back to Slovenia. He loved music, enjoyed being with friends and family and was a good bowler. Tony enjoyed living in Kitsilano and was quite active until he started to be impacted by dementia in 2018.
