Tom passed away peacefully on February 24, 2016, at age 77, surrounded by family and friends at Lionsgate Hospital. Tom had been diagnosed with colon cancer December 23, 2015 and due to a pre-surgery complication which compromised his kidneys, he lost his life.

He was born in Shanghai, China to parents Bernardo and Maria Loh. He was one of 12 brothers and sisters.

He is lovingly survived by his two sons, Rene and Justin, (of whom he was very proud); his brothers and sisters in Macau and China; his brother-in-law, Willie Lee in New Zealand; nephews, Timothy and Clement Lee; niece, Sylvia Earl; and many other grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.

Tom moved to Canada in 1969 from Hong Kong.

He studied to be a court reporter in Hong Kong but ended up working for Westin Hotels head office in Canada for 25 solid years.

His first few years were spent living in the downtown Vancouver area, after which he finally settled in North Vancouver to raise his family. He raised his kids in the Catholic faith between St.Edmund’s Church and Christ the Redeemer Church.

He was also an active member at Holy Trinity Church in North Vancouver.

He did many years of volunteer work with the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfasts (Tony Lambert & Rollie Wachter) and ushering at Christ the Redeemer.

Tom was a good father, friend and neighbor; he will be remembered as a selfless man who would spend his time serving those around him.

He had many memorable summer vacations with his kids.

He lived a simple, uncomplicated life, always grateful for the things God had given him.

He could always be found sipping on a coffee and reading the morning paper at the local Mc Donald’s, chatting with random people he met along the way or tending to his garden.

He loved his beagle companion Grover. They would enjoy long afternoon strolls together and chat to neighbors together.

He loved the music of Elvis Presley and all the collectibles to go along with it.

He competed in a fun seniors singing competition at Capilano Mall where he sang two of his favorite Elvis Songs in front of an audience.

He also loved the Chinese Kung Fu and action movies.

He very much enjoyed going to see his family (Rosie & Willie Lee) in New Zealand.

He was a very organized and cleanly person. Everything was always in its place.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you kindly make donations to Christ the Redeemer Education Fund.
