Timothy Maurice Murphy passed away on Friday, May 31st, 2024 at 82 years old.

He will be deeply mourned by his sister Merilyn, his daughter-in-law Sophia, and grandchildren Leander, Fenna, and Miriam, as well as his nieces Karla, Marni, Amber and nephew Joaquin. Tim is predeceased by his precious son Elliot and his dear brother Gordon.
Tim was born in Quebec City, on March 3rd, 1942, and was the oldest child of Maurice and Belva Murphy.
Tim was a thoughtful and gentle child. He was an early reader, lifelong learner, and student. He studied classics at UBC, eventually earning a PhD at Harvard. He mastered Greek, Latin, and German and was a deep scholar of classics, philosophy, and theology.
Tim taught classics at university and wrote a book of poems. He then changed careers to investment banking, working for many years in New York City and Duesseldorf, Germany.
When his mother took ill, Tim moved his family to Vancouver to help care for her. Shortly thereafter his youngest son, Elliot, suffered a terrible accident. Together with his wife, Tim selflessly dedicated himself to the loving care of Elliot for three decades until Elliot passed away.
Prayers will be offered on Monday, 10th June, at 6:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will take place on 11th June from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Both services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 4851 Beatrice Street, Vancouver, B.C.
