It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terrie Tatsuko Hashimoto (Morihira), a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Terrie died peacefully at her home in Vancouver BC, on Sunday, August 20th, 2023, at the age of 83.
Terrie was born in Vancouver, BC on June 16th, 1940, to Haruji and Isako Morihira. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Stanley Hashimoto and is survived by her three children, April, Lara, and Skip (Nancy) and two grandsons, Roy and Reid. She is also survived by her sister Aiko, brother Hiroshi and predeceased by her brother Hisashi and sister Carol.
An alumna of the University of Alberta, Terrie graduated in 1962 from the Faculty of Nursing at the University Hospital where she met her future husband. After returning to Vancouver, she took on the role as an outstanding mother and wife, dedicating her life to raising her family and providing all the tools and strength she could offer.
Terrie was active and determined throughout her life; whether it be on a tennis court or on the ski slopes, she was always looking for a challenge. As a certified CSIA ski instructor she loved the snow, but her true passion was tennis, and she followed the game intensely right up to the very end of her life. She attended many tennis events over the years and was a loyal supporter of her favorite players, win or lose. Terrie also had a passion for music and would attend concerts and always be willing to sing out loud to her favorite songs and artists spanning a wide range of genres throughout the years.
Her energy and passion for life will be greatly missed.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify family and loved ones once a service is scheduled.
