Teddie Pasut passed away peacefully in Vancouver on July 31, 2023, surrounded by family.

Our mother, Teddie, lived her life with grace, dignity, and positivity and was a role model to the many who viewed her fondly, and who enjoyed her engaging stories and company. She had a strong will to live, to love, and to give, and she contributed much of herself to family and to her community.

Teddie was born in Poland in 1933, and along with her sister Irene and mother, was separated from her father in 1939, upon the outbreak of war. Reunited in Montreal in 1947, her family began new lives and their Canadian journey. Upon graduation from high school, a chance article in the magazine “Seventeen,” spurred her on to train as a nurse. She followed the opportunities, along with her adventurous spirit, to head west to settle in the small town of Kitimat, BC. There she met and married an ambitious and dashing young man, Angelo Pasut, and had us, Laura and Robert.

In 1975, Teddie put down roots in Vancouver, where she built a successful 25-year career as manager of the Windermere, a senior care facility. True to spirit, she was an active parishioner and choir member of St John the Apostle Parish for close to 50 years.  Over these decades, she was also a highly engaged member and director of the Rotary Club of Vancouver Arbutus. Her parish and Rotary Club provided her many meaningful relationships and opportunities to engage with the broader community and to perform charitable work. In addition she was an avid reader and loved her book club, where she was a dedicated member for the last 20 years.

Teddie is survived by her sister, Irene, her children Laura and Robert, their spouses Mike and Yukiko, grandchildren Kira, Maya, and Jenna, and many other loving family members here in Canada, and in Italy, Poland and Germany.

A Funeral Service will be held on August 17, 2023, at 11:00am, at St. John the Apostle Parish (5457 Trafalgar St., Vancouver).

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to your favourite charity in her name. If you like, one of her favourites was the Red Cross which was instrumental in reuniting her family after WWII.

Below is a section for condolences. However, please feel free to also share your stories and warm memories of time spent with Teddie. Thank you kindly for your love and support of our mother over her long and wonderful life.
