Early on Friday, June 16, 2017, Stephen Sothy passed on from this life at the wonderful Vancouver Hospice after his kidneys and heart finally failed him.
Stephen was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and had a long and fulfilling life, passing just a few months short of his 90th birthday.
He was predeceased by his wife, Cecilia; and was the last surviving member of his two sisters and one brother, as well as both parents, all in Hungary. His life is treasured by daughters, Liz (Gary) Gallian and Janet (Greg) Wolf; sons, John and Joe (Connie) Sothy; grandchildren, Carmen and Carson; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
Stephen touched many lives through his continuous volunteering, notably at Immaculate Conception Church with the church choir, the Mayfair and the Wolf Cub pack. He served on the Board of Directors at the Dunbar Community Center for over 30 years, and was honoured with a lifetime membership. He had many great friends and maintained his cultural identity with active participation at the Vancouver Hungarian Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Vancouver Hospice Society (on Granville Street) and the Immaculate Conception Building Fund in memory of Stephen.
