It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Edith, who passed away peacefully after a courageous but short battle with a very aggressive form of cancer at the Vancouver General Hospital on November 13, 2022, aged 65.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Edith came to Canada in 1975 and studied at Sherwood Secondary School and Southmont Secondary School of Hamilton, Ontario, for Grade 12 and Grade 13. Her hard work paid off and she was awarded the Ontario Scholar in 1977, she continued her study at The University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, and was one of the thirty-five Western students who were named UWO faculty Association Scholarship winners for 1978-1979. She graduated in 1980 and her outstanding performance got herself named on the Dean’s honours list. She then returned to Hong Kong in the same year and went on to dedicate over 30 years of her life working in Human Resources in various tertiary institutes and non-profit organizations. She retired in 2017 as the Senior Director, Corporate Services at the YMCA of Hong Kong.

Anticipating to start a new chapter in life, she returned to Canada with her family in 2020 and decided to call Vancouver home. Her unwavering determination to serve God and to contribute to the community led her to her second home here at the Fountain of Love and Life. She actively participated in various volunteer work and charitable activities and gained herself a lot of loving and caring friends.

Edith was a low-profile but brilliant person. She was genuine, empathetic, sincere, and kind to anyone she met. She always put family first before anything else and was an excellent loving and forgiving wife, an outstandingly responsible and caring mother, a filial daughter, and a thoughtful and supportive sister.

Her passing was unexpectedly sudden to her friends & family, shattering their worlds and leaving them in shock, disbelief, and immense sadness. Though she has gone, she stays in our hearts and continues to guide us through this difficult time. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Prayers will be offered Friday December 9 2022 at 10:15am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 438 Great Northern Way, Vancouver, BC followed by a Funeral Mass Service at 11:00 am.  Interment will be held at 11:00am Saturday December 17 2022 at Holy Angels Building II, Gardens of Gethsemani, 15694 32nd Ave., Surrey, BC.
