Sharmeen passed away peacefully at Dania Home in Burnaby on January 28th, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband Jim of 34 years, her good friends Joan, Carol, Kay, Barbara, Jessie, her brother-in-law Robert, her beloved dogs Chrystal & Brandy, and Mr. Chips & Casey. Survived by her friend Andrew Baker, his wife Candace & their kids Trevor and Lea, her Goddaughter Sharmeen Lovett Riley & husband Captain A.W. Riley Ret., Patricia (Lovett) Rafuse, Beth Lovett, Eileen Clark, Dave & Rena Krell and family and her nephews Alec & Bruce Ritchie. Sharmeen was born in Moose Jaw, but New Westminster was her home for more than 90 years. She worked as the New Westminster High School Secretary for 45 years retiring in 1993. She loved her garden and spent much time tending it, especially her roses. She enjoyed going to the annual UBC / VanDusen Garden Sales to pick up new plants. She also enjoyed going to Maui to escape the rain, the Sunshine Coast to spend time “camp” with Kay and later Don & Ann, and Langley with Carol. She had a sharp wit and was an avid reader with an extensive library, enjoying the Vancouver Sun daily, and doing the crosswords. Many thanks are extended to Dania Home, especially the staff of Nielson Neighbourhood for their compassionate and kind care. In lieu of flowers, she suggested donations to her favourite charities: SPCA, BC Wildlife Rescue Assoc., or VanDusen Gardens Assoc. There will be no formal gathering, but a small private function will be held at a later date.
