Born in Glasgow Scotland, Rosemary immigrated to Canada in 1956, settling in Stave Falls, near Mission BC. She enjoyed single life in Vancouver as an officer worker before meeting her husband Jim while doing community theatre. They raised five children in their rural home. She studied English literature and childcare, cared for disabled children, and then worked the front desk of the local IWA office. She also cared for her husband through a long chronic illness.
With her sharp Scottish wit, down-to-earth loving nature and a sparky (and sparkly) personality, she made friends wherever she went. The hub of the family, Rosemary loved the simple things in life: creating a warm, welcoming home, scrapbooking, reaching out to friends, and finding practical solutions to problems.
Rosemary had a great knack for finding the fun in the everyday, and she was always looking for an opportunity to get a laugh or gently rib.
It was appropriate that, in her later years, as the longest lived in her extended family, she'd often leave you with the old Scottish toast, "Here's tae us, w'as like us? Damn few and they're a deed!"
Predeceased by her husband James in 1985 and survived by her loving children (from youngest to eldest) David, Colin, Fiona (Scott), Shawn, Buck; and grandchildren, Joshua, Emma, Ashleigh, Jessica, Kigar and Dana; and her many loving friends.
She donated to many charities and was interested in people from all walks of life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Ataxia Canada or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
