Rosemary Harkins

April 17, 1937 — January 20, 2025

Vancouver

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Rosemary Harkins on January 20, 2025 at Vancouver General Hospital. She died peacefully surrounded by love. Rosemary was born April 17, 1937 in Gainsborough, England. She was a very strong woman who fought through illness and physical disability as a result of childhood polio. She was an avid volunteer with many organizations and will be remembered for her charismatic personality and tender affection.

Rosemary is predeceased by her loving husband, James Harkins as well as her cherished grandson, Jonathan Harkins. She is survived by her children Susan, James (Cathy), Carol (Gavin) and Marian (Mike). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Trevor (Nicole), Nicole (Sean), Moira (Stefan), Stephen (Megan) and Fiona (Alex) as well as her great grand-children Witten, Everett, Matthew and Desmond. The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Point Grey Private Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital for helping care for Rosemary.

We trust now that she is holding hands with her husband James and grandson Jonathan.

A service will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Parish, 4925 Cambie Street. Vancouver on Tuesday January 28 at 11:00 AM. Celebrant: Deacon Marty Cayer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund or Vancouver Coastal Health Foundation.
