Rose was born in Karamurat, Romania and emigrated with her family to Canada in 1930. She grew up near Prelate, Saskatchewan as the oldest of 12 children living in harsh conditions on a prairie farm during the great depression. She earned teacher’s qualifications, teaching at College of Notre Dame, Wilcox, Sask.

A new teaching opportunity at the one room Kelly School just north of the Lawson family farm in Parkbeg, Sask was advertised by the local school board. It was there that she met Eldon and they were married in January 1951 in Moose Jaw. They started their family and moved to Vancouver in 1952, she later revisited her teaching career at Sacred Heart School in Ladner, BC.

Rose was devout in her faith and love of God. She was active in parish work wherever she lived in the Vancouver-Ladner-Surrey area.

She is survived by three sisters, Arlene McPherson, Eve Getz and Lori Monk as well as two brothers, Andrew Getz and Br. Meinrad Getz O.S.B., as well as two children, Patricia and Paul (Kathy), two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Rose will be remembered as a kind and generous friend, a caring grandmother, mother and sister, and as someone who did the work of Christian Charity for the less fortunate throughout her life.
