Born on June 30, 1943 passed away in his sleep at the BC Cancer Agency after a very short battle with cancer on Oct. 2, 2017. Ron was predeceased by his daughter Sonja on April 1, 2017 and by his parents Reta and Edward Ellis in 2010. Left to mourn his loss are his wife and soulmate Joan, his son Jordan, brother Edward, grand children Hayden, Preston and April as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

In his younger years, Ron enjoyed gymnastics and Judo and played the trumpet in the Vancouver Junior Band led by Gordon Olson. He played football with the Vancouver Blue Bombers. Ron had wonderful memories of leaving Vancouver in 1966 with only a small bag, to travel to Russia, Afghanistan, the Middle East, Japan and Australia. He told exciting stories of the many adventures he experienced and often reminisced as he studied his large photo album.

Most of Ron's working years were in the Elevator industry. He is an honorary member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors. Ron was a loyal, practical and positive thinking man. His answer to "how are you?" was always, "100%". After his retirement in 2003, Ron enjoyed his gardening projects, long beach walks, bike rides and entertaining his grand children. Ron was an avid reader and could often be found in his garden Oasis reading history. He turned driftwood and found objects into boats, planes and unique animals. An arbour he made from driftwood is draped with clematis vines. His wire sculptures and mobiles hang in the garden along with a fairy castle, his last project created for April.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Scott and all the caring doctors, nurses and staff at BCCA and to Dr. Hogge and staff at VGH Leukemia ward.
