Roland Lacasse of New Westminster, BC, passed away peacefully in his own home on October 22, 2023, at the age of 94. He was born in Fraser Mills, BC on September 20, 1929, the 2nd of three children to Yvonne (Beaupre)and George Lacasse. New Westminster was his home where he went to school, operated a business, and raised his family. After owning and operating MacLean Automotive on Royal Ave and 6th Street for several years, he spent the rest of his working life with the City of New Westminster as a mechanic and Superintendent of the City Garage. He loved spending time with his family and in nature, whether camping, fishing, skiing or on the water.
Roland was a much loved and respected husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and member of the Catholic community of New Westminster. St Peters Catholic Church was the beneficiary of much of his devotion and time. His gentle nature, quiet demeanor and sense of humour will be greatly missed.
Roland is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Louisa (Bisson), his sister Lorraine Gordon, his three daughters: Joanne (Stephen) Pal, Claudette Lacasse, Linda (Donald) Kirkpatrick as well as six grandchildren: Danika, Caitlyn, Nicole, Meagan, Tanner and Lauren and 3 great-grandchildren: Emma, Zoe and Charli. He is preceded in death by his sister Pauline Huiras.
A funeral mass will be held at St Peter’s Catholic Church at 12:00 pm on Friday Nov 3, 2023. Reception to follow in the hall. Prayers to be held the evening prior at 7 PM on Nov 2, 2023, at St Peters Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Covenant House in Vancouver or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
