Robin William Morin born December 7, 1947, in New Westminster, passed away peacefully at home in Burnaby on April 5, 2024. He was predeceased by his infant son Robbie, parents Frederick and Kathleen and siblings Billy and Linda. He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Shelley, grandson Zach, granddaughter Samantha (Jason), great-grandsons Marcus and Noah, sister Lila (Jim), brother Jim (Karen), many nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Following the footsteps of his father, Robin worked as a Checker at various terminals on the waterfront with the ILWU 500. The water was his favourite place to be and after 50 years, he retired.

Married to Carol for 53 years, they were inseparable. From taking trips to Vancouver Island, Cruising together and countless trips to the Casino in Skagit and Swinomish over the years, going to Hawaii was ultimately, his most favourite place he was able to visit.

His passion for sports was undeniable, but it was his life long love for the Vancouver Canucks that kept him saying “one day I’ll see them raise that darn cup!” Win or lose, he was always so proud to show everyone his ticket stub (which he kept in his wallet till his final day) from the inaugural Vancouver Canucks home game in October of 1970. Never missing a game of the Canucks or the BC Lions, he got so much joy pressing the red light siren whenever a goal or touchdown was scored while sitting at the bar at his favourite watering hole of 26 years.

Robin had an unbeatable sense of humor which never left him, even in his final days. No matter what life threw at him, which was way too much, he always battled through everything with a smile on his face and never gave up.

Robin, Dad, Papa, Great Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend, may you now rest in peace as you so greatly deserve, continue to always have that mischievous smile on your face, keep telling your jokes and enjoy yourself by doing all the things you haven’t been able to do in years. We all love and miss you dearly, even though you were “Cute but Complicated” and only 5’8”.

May the stars carry your sadness away,

May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,

May hope forever wipe away your tears,

And above all may silence make your strong”

Chief Dan George
