Robert Neil Kevin ”PA” MacLean
With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our precious dad “Pa” on Aug. 19th, 2012.  Predeceased by his loving wife Anne, his parents James and Beulah MacLean, brothers Frank and Ken, sisters Kathleen and Marnie.  Pa will be remembered mostly by his passion to live life to the fullest even with the health challenges he endured.  His strength he said was fueled by his love for and from his family. Dad moved from Saskatchewan to B.C. when he was 19. Here he met his Anne, who had recently emigrated from India.  He had never seen “anyone so beautiful and loved her British accent”.  Mum had said she’d never seen anyone “so cute”.  But what solidified their loving marriage was their mutual devout trust and surrender to God’s plan in their lives.  They had 3 children; Jeffrey (Lucia), Marie (Lorne), Kathryn (Dan) and nine amazing grandchildren; Ashley, Jason, Jennifer, Anne, Jill, Mark and Paul, Jeffrey and Michael.  Pa was who they cherished as their “other Dad”.
The gift of faith passed onto their children and it has become our greatest wealth.  Both Mum and Dad endured  health issues but rather than complain they embraced life even more by reaching out to their children.  The greatest gift Dad and Mum blessed us with is how they demonstrated what was important in life.  The practise to live simply, love tremendously, practise humbleness and most important to give of one’s self for the goodness of others.
Dad’s passions were his faith, his Anne, his children and grandchildren, country music, long drives, American Football, camping, hunting with Jeff, watching the Walton’s,  EWTN and reciting the rosary, ice cold Miller Chill, card games with grandkids and Indian curry.  As he was dying, we invited him to go to his happy place and he let us know it was memories in Hawaii with us all.  Dad enjoyed 35 years working at United Airlines where he retired early in 1986 to have more time with our Mum who passed away in 1987.  Dad’s greatest lesson to us all was to live simple – laugh a lot and love unconditionally even more right until your last peaceful breath.  We’ll miss you every day Pa, give a big hug to Mum.  God Bless.  Farewell for now and “Aloha”.  Special thanks to the staff at Langley Hospital especially Dad’s angel nurse Renee on 2 South.
Prayers will be held at Good Shepherd Church, 2250 150th Street, Surrey, Wed. Aug 22nd at 8:30 pm with Mass of Christian Burial on, Thursday, Aug. 23rd at 10:00 am.
