Robert Edmund Listecki Jr.

November 28, 1963 — March 20, 2025

Vancouver

Robert Edmund Listecki Jr., 61, passed away on March 20, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with cholangiocarcinoma. Born on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1963, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Rob’s life was a true gift, and those who knew him were grateful for the time they shared with him.

Rob lived in Vancouver with his loving wife, Tricia, and their two cherished children, Robbie (11) and Ciara (9). He is also survived by his devoted parents, Robert and Lyn, his beloved sister, Kristin, and his dear niece, Kelsey. He grew up in Oak Brook, Illinois, where his lifelong love of the outdoors took root. From an early age, he found joy in sailing, snow skiing, water skiing, and snowshoeing alongside his family. Each year, their visits to Glen Lake, Michigan, became a treasured tradition. His Glen Lake family will deeply miss seeing his bright smile and watching him sail effortlessly across the lake on his beloved Hobie Cat or speed by in the lime green ski boat. Later on in his life, as a true lake man, he also enjoyed visiting Osoyoos, BC where he spent cherished time on the beach with his in-laws and family friends.

Rob attended Drake University, where he was a proud member of the Theta Chi fraternity. He built a fulfilling career as an optician, a role that brought him great satisfaction as he helped people find frames that made them look and feel their best. He also worked at Mountain Equipment Co-op, where he delighted in assisting others in gearing up for the outdoor adventures he loved so much.

However, the role that brought him the greatest joy was being a father. He treasured the time spent with his children, especially during their early years, taking them to the Family Place and on walks and bike rides through the neighborhood. Their fondest memories include camping with him and sharing countless outdoor adventures together.

Rob’s warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, in the gentle waves of Glen Lake, and in every moment spent outdoors, embracing the beauty of the world he so dearly loved.

Our family is deeply grateful for the unwavering support we have received over the past three years from family and friends. Rob was truly cared for by the dedicated medical professionals who guided his treatment with compassion and expertise. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Paul Abraham, Rob’s family doctor, Dr. Janine Davies, his oncologist, and Dr. Walter Lemmo, his naturopath. We were also blessed with the kindness and care of the gentle nurses at BC Cancer and the South Community Palliative Care team. The love, prayers, and support from the communities of Vancouver College and St. Andrew’s School have been a great comfort to us during this difficult journey.

A celebration of Rob’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew’s Church in Vancouver with a reception to follow. There will be prayers at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, April 1. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to BC Cancer or the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
