With heavy hearts, we share that Robert (Bob) Nelson, aged 86, passed away on October 19, 2023 after experiencing complications due to a viral infection.  Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Bonnie Denford Nelson, his children: Kristin and Tracy (Mark), four grandsons: Avery, Eric, Hayden and Tyler, brothers: Tom (Dianne), Donald (Jean), sister in law Penny, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was predeceased by brother John and nephew Mark.

Bob was born in Noranda Quebec, the oldest son of 4 boys.  He grew up playing hockey on the homemade outdoor rinks and curling for the Northern School Boy Noranda team. Bob graduated from McGill University in 1964.  During his time at McGill he joined the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and made lifelong close friends.  After University Bob Moved west and had a long career as a dentist in Burnaby, BC.

Bob loved his home over on Mayne Island and spent as much time near the ocean as possible.  He loved sports, boating, biking and people.  Bob enjoyed volunteering his time to special groups.  He volunteered during the Olympics and later joined the volunteer Freemason drivers group who drove patients for the Cancer Society for 15 years.  Bob always had a smile and a friendly greeting for everyone he crossed paths with.

Bob will be deeply missed by many but we take comfort in knowing that his beautiful spirit lives within us.  Bob leaves us with wonderful memories and his example of living a truly meaningful, inspiring and well lived life.
