Glynn passed away comfortably and peacefully on Friday evening survived by his children, Peter, Sheila, Martha, Mark and Paul, their partners, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. We all believe that he was ready and with his strong faith, was confident that Mom would be waiting for him.
As an F.C.M.A., his career with Canada Safeway took him into boardrooms and his unwavering belief in the necessity of community involvement took him around the globe. He received many awards and recognition throughout the years and was comfortable in any situation.
In 2006, Dad received the Magill Lifetime Achievement Award from the CNIB - one of the organizations that he had supported for decades. He closed his talk referring to life as being a journey having many new beginnings and quoted Winston Churchill:
“Every day you make progress. You see, stretched out before you, an ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know that you will never get to the end of your journey but, far from being discouraging, this only adds to the joy and glory”
We like to believe that this was on his mind on Friday and that he was simply reaching a new plateau and was thoroughly enjoying the glory of the climb.
This year, Dad was working with the Vancouver Lions Club to provide a new beginning for the children of an Inner City School in downtown Vancouver by starting a breakfast program. If you would like to help him reach the goal, please contact Jhalani@telus.net.
