Richard died peacefully in his sleep at St. Paul's Hospital, after a brief illness.

Dad is survived by his beloved wife Agi, their four children - Jane (Paul), Michael (Ljubi), Stephen (Cathy), and Julie (Pat), 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his sister Kathleen (Kay) Cowtan. He was pre-deceased by his sister Elaine Campbell in 2017.

Born in Vancouver, BC, Dad's childhood years were spent in Edmonton, Nelson and Trail. After graduating from high school two years early, he attended UBC where he majored in Commerce and playing bridge. He joined the Bank of Montreal in 1950, and it was there in 1953 at the 10th & Granville branch that he met and fell in love with Mom. They were married in 1957, and Dad rose through the ranks to become Branch Manager, but chose to leave the bank in 1970 rather than accept a move to Toronto. His rationale was "I can't golf there in the winter". He became a successful entrepreneur, investing in a wide variety of businesses, and together with Mom built a wonderful life in Vancouver.

Dad was so proud of his large and loving family, and was deeply honoured to have so many gathered together last year to help celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.

Dad will be remembered for his quick mind, generosity, and entrepreneurial spirit. A long-time member of Shaughnessy Golf Club, he was an avid golfer, volunteered, and was a founding director of the Greater Vancouver Open. He loved to read, play bridge, do crosswords and sudokus, listen to music, laugh at his own jokes, and spend winters with Mom at their home in Palm Desert.

Heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at St. Paul's Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul's Hospital ICU would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life was held at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club at 3 pm on April 13, 2018. A private interment for family will be held at a later date.
