Raymond Douglas Robinson was born on December 6, 1986 in Pointe Claire, QC. He passed away peacefully in Burnaby on January 15, 2017.
He is survived by his Mother Dianne Eugenia Kisilenko & his big Sister Marianne Donna Robinson of Vancouver BC, his Father Bruce Douglas Robinson of Montreal, QC, and his Daughter Abigail Marie Donna MacLeod-Robinson of Halifax, NS.
Ray grew up all over Canada, mostly in Quebec, BC and Alberta. He lived in Edmonton for most of his early adulthood, finally coming back home to BC in 2016.
Ray loved working with his hands! He was a great carpenter and loved to work hard: he would often be framing in -30° weather. He took pride in what he would accomplish. He was also a highly-motivated learner who was self-taught, and had a wide range of interests. He could talk at length about anything he was interested in.
Ray loved his family very much, and was an amazing Father, always reading to Abigail before she went to bed. His love for his daughter was pure. He really encouraged her to discover the world in her own way, and was so proud when his little Monster would figure things out! She meant everything to him, and he was always impressed at how fast she was learning different languages, and would kiss his picture every day. She was his world: “She’s going to be so smart. I love her so much.”
Ray also had a great sense of adventure: he would try anything once! He loved the outdoors, appreciated different forms of beauty, cooked a mean steak, and sang soul music in the kitchen or at karaoke; alone or in a group…it didn’t matter! He loved animals too, whether it was his frog Tiger Stripe, Rocky his childhood dog, or his cat Tiger.
His infectious sense of humour permeated any room, and his steadfast confidence allowed him to explore the world on his own terms. He never gave up searching, being curious, and wondering about the world around him.
To those of us who love him tremendously, miss hearing his laugh and seeing his handsome smile, don’t think of him as gone: Think of him as though he’s “on vacation” waiting for us to join him. Ray has a permanent a spot at the table, forever and always.
We love you, Ray Ray.
This one’s for you!
