It is with profound sadness and grateful hearts that we, the family of Ping Leah age 78 announce her sudden passing in her Burnaby home on July 6th, 2018. Ping Leah was born in Chengdu, in the Sichuan province of China on October 6th, 1939. She is survived by her devoted husband Neen-Kee. She will be terribly missed by her son and daughter – Kai-Ming (Nicola) of Saskatoon and Lillian Yong of Vancouver. No one loved being a grandma more than Mom, and she had a special bond with each of her five grandchildren – Michael, Matthew & Sara Yong and Mia & Eli Dale.
Mom is survived by her immediate family and step-sister Wei Lan of New York. Mom is predeceased by her loving father, step-mother and step-brothers. Ping Leah’s formative years were spent in China and Taiwan before moving to Canada to continue her nursing career in 1966. Leah spent a few years nursing before landing in Windsor where she met and married Neen-Kee. They settled in Saskatoon to begin their family life. After raising her children, she began a career with Canada Post that concluded upon her move to Burnaby in 2002.
Mom always maintained an active social life and in her retirement years was an avid world traveller, bridge player and walking group member. She made so many wonderful, genuine friends over the years and we know they feel this loss as much as we do. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation in support of the Renal Program.
A celebration of life will occur on Friday, July 20th at 1pm at the Columbia-Bowell Chapel located at 219 6th Street, New Westminster, B.C. A reception will follow the celebration.
