Phyllis passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Feb.17, 2019 at the age of 90.

Predeceased by her husband Danny, she is lovingly remembered by her daughters Carolyn,

Cathy (Ron), and Mary, and by her grandchildren Grant (Kate), Marianne ( Justin), and Emma.

Phyllis was a proud life-long resident of Vancouver, and always took great delight in the

natural beauty of her city. After providing a happy and supportive upbringing for her

daughters, Phyllis was able to pursue her passion for art in her 40’s and 50’s. She attended

Capilano College and Emily Carr University, where she immersed herself in her visual arts

classes. She relished being in the studio atmosphere, and particularly loved working in the

areas of sculpture, ceramics, fabric arts and photography.

Phyllis was a kind, thoughtful and gracious mother, grandmother and friend, and loved

having her family around her. She was genuinely interested in the lives of people she met,

and was always up for a lively discussion about politics and current events. Phyllis was a true

animal lover and adopted many strays and rescues throughout her life, her most recent

adoptee being her cherished canine buddy, Sami. Phyllis loved her home, especially the

peaceful Japanese garden oasis she created with her husband Danny. Over the years, it was

the setting of many joyful and memorable get-togethers.

Phyllis had many challenges with her mobility during the last years of her life. But despite this,

she always maintained a positive attitude and a cheerful demeanor. Together with her family,

Phyllis was very grateful for the kindness and compassionate care provided by her

caregivers, Lisa and Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA or The Nature Conservancy would be much appreciated.
