Os passed away peacefully on October 20, 2010 in Tsawwassen, B.C. at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sheila Hachey; his children Joseph (Lita), Patricia, Brian (Joanne), and Michael (Jennifer); grand-children Simon, Erica, Megan, Michael, Jeya and Kyle. Os will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings, John (Diane) Hachey, Marybel Oland and Jane (Pat) Sullivan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Os was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick (N.B.), and while his life’s journey took him all over the world, New Brunswick always held a special place in his heart. Os had a distinguished career as a Geologist spanning 40 plus years, during which he found several mines across the country while working for mining companies such as Noranda and Amoco. Os loved to read, play golf, watch sports, and in his younger days loved spending time in the outdoors and go hunting with his brother John. Os will always be remembered for his strength of character and staying true to his word. For those who knew him personally, you would have enjoyed and appreciated his matter of factness, his stories, and how you always learned something new. We miss you Os, you will always be loved and never forgotten! A small prayer service was held on October 25, 2010 at Sacred Heart Chapel (Delta, B.C.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on October 26, 2010, Father Michael celebrant. Osmond Hachey was laid to rest at Gardens of Gethsemani. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully acknowledged to the Cancer Society of Canada.
