Philip Malcolm Perkins, 80, passed away on June 10, 2023, with family by his side. Mal was born October 2, 1942, in Talley, a small village in Carmarthenshire, Wales.
A few years later, the family (Nana/ Harriet, Bampi/ Philip, Brian, Al and Marian) moved to St. Athan in Glamorgan, South Wales, where he spent the rest of his childhood. After graduating from Cardiff College of Food Technology, he soon went to sea working as a chef for the Cunard Shipping Line aboard the Queen Elizabeth and later the Q.E.2.
He met his wife, Pauline, while at port in New York. The two returned to the U.K, married and had their first child, Sean, in Cardiff, Wales. The family of three immigrated to Canada, where the family grew with the addition of three more boys (Jamie, Ben, Joe).
Grandchildren and daughters-in-law also joined the family over the years - Avery, Cade, Jenna, Gavin, Tavish, Autumn, and Abby, Tara, Laurie and Rain. Malcolm will be dearly missed by his family in Canada and the U.K.
Prayers and visitation will be on Tuesday, June 20th from 7pm until 9pm at Precious Blood Parish, 17475 59 Ave, Surrey.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Paul Chu of Precious Blood Parish on the following day, Wednesday, June 21st at 11:00am. Reception follows in the Church hall.
