Peter was born in Sandusky, MI, 2nd youngest of 9 boys. As a dedicated Teacher, he cultivated a love of music in many young souls from Michigan to Whitehorse, Simon Fraser University and finally the Lower Mainland of BC. He was also well-known for his adamant stance on Teachers’ rights both in and out of the classroom as well as being an established actor for both stage and screen. His role as Santa Claus was one of his favourites.
Peter had a fascinating life. He was one of nine boys born to Lithuanian immigrants. He was a Korean war veteran. He was the only one of the nine children to go to university where he earned a BA in Voice and a MA in instrumental music. He was a film and stage actor, a singer and a heralded music teacher. Peter sang with La Scala, the internationally acclaimed opera company, when they performed I Lombardi by Verdi at Expo'86. He played the role of the king who was killed by his son.
Peter was onstage in many productions including Anything Goes, The Mikado and Our Town and his film and TV credits included Commitment Day, Jigsaw, Secret Lives and many more.
Among his many accomplishments, Peter was nominated for the Reader's Digest Leadership in Education Award in 1994. He founded the First Capital men's Chorus in Abbotsford and held various positions with the Surrey Teachers' Association for almost 30 years. In 1991 he was instrumental in having a resolution passed stating all schools in B.C. should have a Fine Arts Facility.
Peter’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at their son’s home at 16531 62 A Avenue, Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
