It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Pauline Goetz on February 3, 2022, following a brief illness.

Pauline was the daughter of Redmond and Josephine Demas.

She is predeceased by her loving partner William “Doug” Moe, brother Edmund Demas, sister Theresa Priest, brother-in-law Anthony Goetz, sister-in-law Vivian Moe.

She will be lovingly remembered by her step daughter Karen Gallicano (Paul), step son David Moe (Lydia); granddaughters Brittany Evans, Megan “Mae” Evans, Amanda Webb (Jordan), Alexia Moe; brother Eddie Demas (Irene), sisters Madeline Klassen (Bruce), Loraine Goetz; sisters-in-law Darlene Demas, Carol Deutscher (Norman), Bernice Lebrash (Chuck); brothers-in-law David Moe, Don Moe (June), James Dornstauder (Geraldine), Ken Dornstauder (Linda); many nieces, nephews, god children; dear friends, Judy Sask and Connie Hansen.

Pauline was born on June 7, 1947, in Carnduff, Saskatchewan. She moved to BC when she was 16 years old to live with her sister Theresa.  She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas in North Vancouver. She was married to Jerome Goetz and had many adventures travelling together over the years before they parted ways. Pauline later developed a loving relationship with Doug Moe whom she cared for through not only in his health, but through his illness until his passing in 2019. She worked at IBM as a keypunch operator for several years then Carter Pontiac until her retirement.  Pauline was actively involved in her church community, volunteering her time to helping others. She enjoyed sports and actively participated in softball often as a back catcher or “short stop” (pardon the pun) and in later years she enjoyed golfing. She was an avid gamer both at the table and on the “tablet”.  She had a creative skill which included but is not limited to flower arrangements, wreaths, bouquets, and the love of gardening.  Pauline was passionate about travelling and experiencing many cultures of the world.  Of the many places she visited, the Holy land was one of her most memorable.

Family was always very important to Pauline.  She went on frequent road trips throughout the prairies visiting family and friends. As a grandmother she was quite honored and always made time for her grandchildren regardless of her situation.  She loved each and every one of them deeply and was quite protective of their wellbeing.

Pauline’s love for her family was unwavering. She has left a lasting impression of love, devotion and steadfastness and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honour to the Alzheimer Society of BC or Covenant House Vancouver.
