Patrick Yam passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on September 7, 2023 at 11:00pm. He was 72.
Patrick will be greatly missed by his Wife, Lydia, his daughter, Jennifer, his Son-in-Law, James, his Granddaughter, Alexa and his Grand-Dog, Charlie. He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings, in-laws, all his nieces, nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Patrick had a charismatic soul and was a man of many talents. He had a love for learning, music, people and animals, and he had a wild sense of humour. In a twist of irony, Patrick’s latest book published the day he passed.
Patrick always lit the room with his presence. His contagious laughter and animated storytelling will always be fondly recalled, and he had the ability to make someone smile no matter the circumstance.
Patrick loved skiing to the chalet for a hot chocolate, was an avid swimmer and tennis player in his youth, and he loved looking forward to travelling and adventuring with his family and friends. At 72, he had even learned to ride a bicycle, something he always feared after allegedly hitting a cow when he was a young man.
He had a wonderful career in mining sales in his early life—later becoming a brilliant vocal coach, where he literally found his voice and passion. Patrick was beloved and well-respected by his students, each one of them he called his dear friend.
While Patrick will no longer be a physical presence in our lives, he will live on in memory with his spirit, happiness and laughter carrying us forward.
A Private Funeral Service for his immediate family will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 2 PM at Kearney Funeral Home.
