PATRICIA JOSEPHINE MACKAY (CONWAY) “PADDY”
Patricia “Paddy” passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brief struggle with cancer, aged 79 years.
Paddy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Wallace Bruce Mackay “Wally” and her children Elizabeth Armer(Douglas), Robert (Brenda), Brian (Christene), Fiona, Ellen (Stuart Cole) and James, and her grandchildren Ceilidh, Aaron, Madeline, Jennifer, Tara, Evan, Alden, Calum, Claire, Heather and Molly.
Paddy was born in Egypt where her father served with the British Army Medical Corps.  Her love of travel took her from her home in Netley Abbey, England, to Northern British Columbia where she met and married Wally, an Australian engineer.  Together they travelled; living in several countries before finally settling in West Vancouver.
While she had her hands full raising six children and then chasing after eleven grandchildren, Paddy remained active in the Catholic Church; supporting her local parish (St Anthony’s) and working with the Franciscan Sisters of Atonement.
Paddy was loved by everyone and graced our lives with her faith, warmth and sense of fun.  She was more than kind; her caring and compassion for those around her was a shining light in our lives that we will dearly miss.
The funeral mass for Paddy will be 11am June 18th at St Anthony’s Catholic Church at 2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver. Prayers will be at 7pm on Thursday June 17th. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Franciscan Sisters of Atonement, 285 East Cordova Vancouver, BC, would be gratefully appreciated.
