Nora (Sue) Mary Hennessy, nee Egan born March 27, 1927, took her final bow August 22, 2020, Vancouver, Canada.

Predeceased by her husband Michael Hennessy and son Sean, her parents Alphonsus and Mary Egan, siblings John, Patricia, Patrick, Dominic, Josephine and Michael survived by siblings Margaret and Alphonsus, and children Anne Marie Murray, Michael (Maggie) and Geraldine (Francis) Fleming, and grandchildren Brendan, Maureen, Connor, Pierce, Kathleen, Molly and Clare.

Sue was born in London, England, and studied drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, before sailing to Vancouver in 1953 to marry Mike, her husband of 66 years, whom she had met as a teenager in Ireland when the family took refuge there during WWll.

In Vancouver, Sue became a beloved member of the Irish community, a booming English accent in a sea of Irish lilts, but what made her stand out most was her classically trained singing voice and amazing vocal range. She was frequently sought out to sing at gatherings, on the radio, anywhere there was a piano, to the delight of everyone present. She also found a home with Stage Eireann Theatre Company, where she won many awards for both her acting and directing.

Sue adored her grandkids, with laughter and exuberance she taught them elocution, enunciation, tongue twisters, cockney music hall songs, and in the evenings, repelled their repeated attempts to best her and Mike at scrabble. All this was served up with a fresh pot of tea and a splash of poetry.

Her grandchildren will forever remember the fun filled summer days spent at her house where laughter, merriment, good fun and a hint of madcap abounded.

May God hold you in the palm of his hand, until we meet again in that bee-loud glade on the mythical Lake Isle of Innisfree, of which you were so fond.

Funeral Mass to be held at St. John the Apostle on Wednesday September 2nd at 9:30am.  For those that cannot attend, a live-stream will be available: www.legacystreaming.com/kearney
