Nicole Andree Mahussier (Hiemstra)

July 16, 1967 - February 24, 2019

Nicole Mahussier passed away Sunday February 24, 2019. She was the loving wife of Robert Hiemstra , and an amazing mother to Lily Louise Hiemstra and Lauren Lucy Hiemstra . Predeceased by her father Louis Mahussier and her mother Louise Mahussier , mother- in- law Lucy Hiemstra; survived by her brothers Rene ( linda ), Real ( Janet ), sisters Melanie ( Michael ) and Michele , sister-in-laws Jackie ( Jim ), Pat (Shori ) Barb , brother in laws Sjouke , Ed (Sharon ) and her father-in-law Cor Hiemstra and many nephews and nieces who absolutely adored her.

Nicole studied criminology acquiring an under graduate degree, as well as a master’s degree, both in Criminology, moving on to a profession in probation. Nicole took her career seriously, administering the structures of the law, but also bringing a degree of empathy to her line of work. In most cases she was dealing with clients with sordid pasts, and under privileged upbringings. Quite, often after meeting with clients, realizing many of them would be turning back to the outside, she would send them on their way with care packages made up of mittens, gloves, scarves, granola bars etc., just to see them through the next short while, she truly cared.

One of her favourite things in life, was being mother to both Lily and Lauren. As she watched these beautiful girls grow up into young woman, Nicole instilled in them her tenacious work ethic, her love and compassion. Come spring time, with a diet coke in hand, Nicole could be found at the ballpark cheering on her girls playing baseball, watching them play a sport she also held dear to her heart. Nicole always was so meticulous with caring for her daughters, they would never go without, the girls always knew they were so warmly loved, snuggling them to sleep when a fever arose, and sending them off to school each day with a big hug.

An amazing wife, providing structure, guidance and wisdom, creating an environment in our home of constant love. Nicole had a work ethic second to none, blowing through her workday at the office she would arrive home making sure her family was always tended to, Nicole was our rock.

Nicole touched so many lives, always putting the needs of others before her own. She will be greatly missed.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 5 at 1:00 pm, at Precious Blood Parish, 17475 59th Ave, Surrey, BC. Celebrant father Paul Chu .
