Born December 28, 1951, in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe); died July 6, 2023, at St. Michael’s Hospice in Burnaby, B.C.
With great sadness we note the passing of (Paul Warburton), a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Paul led an eventful life. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17 and saw a great deal of the world while having many adventures. He then worked as a court reporter at Prov. Court (Crim/Div.) in Ottawa, Ontario. Ultimately, he relocated back to the West Coast to rejoin our family and did court transcribing, became a Commissionaire and ultimately a bus driver, from which he retired.
Throughout his life he forged close friendships with generosity, humour, passion, loyalty, and an inquiring mind.
Unfortunately, Paul was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer on March 30, 2017. As one friend said, he was incredibly strong, optimistic, and positive throughout his battle with cancer and chose not to let it define him. Although Paul fought to hang on to the very end, it ultimately took him from us.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss our mother Eileen, his beloved Betty, brother Anthony, sisters Felicity and Claire, nephews Mark and Aidan, and nieces Alexandra, Willow and Joy, our Auntie Sylvia and cousins Domenico and Michael Vaughan and their families in England, and many, many friends throughout the world.
We would like to particularly thank his friends Matty Lowe, Dave Nash, and Dan Amano for bringing so much fun, support, comfort, and love to Paul in his last months.
( In honour of Paul, we would ask you buy the gadgetiest gadget you can, or have a big slice of lemon meringue pie, or a tot of Navy rum in his honour .)
