It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nell Kok; cherished mother and grandmother. She is survived by her five sons: Terry, Paul, Rick, Rob and Michael; her daughters in law: Lori, Coral, Theresa, Angie and Larissa; her grandchildren: Krista (Neal), Cheryl, Julie (Jason), Beverly, Sarah (Graeme), Douglas (Stephanie), Stephen (Kristi), Elizabeth (Kyle), Theo (Sam), David (Marlon), Ethan and Joshua; her 9 great-grandchildren; and family in Edmonton, Holland and Australia. Born in Amsterdam, Holland, Nell was the youngest of 16 children and often shared stories about growing up in a busy and loving household. In 1954 she immigrated to Canada, joining her fiancé, Dick, who had come the previous year. They were married shortly after. They lived in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Calgary before finding paradise in Vancouver, where they set up a home to raise their boys. Our Oma was fierce; fiercely strong, funny, competitive and loving. She loved to travel, a good glass of wine, extra salty black licorice and her family. And we loved her, so much. She is again with her beloved husband Dick. Nell passed away peacefully in her sleep, and the family would like to thank the wonderful staff in the Dewdney Wing at Nicola Lodge for their care.
Funeral Services will be held Friday Feb 11th at St Peter's Church in New Westminster @10am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC or the Parkinson Society British Columbia.
"Love you darling"
