The passionate matriarch who will forever adorn our hearts with love, who’s welcoming home and soul were always filled with energy, wisdom, a mischievous sense of humour & an inquisitive humble spirit has now taken leave to become the newest angel watching over us.

She was predeceased by parents Elizabeth ( Egerton) and her son David. Mom, aka “Nonna”, “Zia”, “Ma” “Noan’s” & “Mrs C” now rests peacefully, after a most valiant journey through the devasting challenges of Alzheimer’s......

Always a lady of independence, gracious traditions, & tenacious perseverance, whether at home or the office, Myrna’s determination to put other’s needs before herself, touched and inspired so many during employment at City of Vancouver Health Dept, (Coastal Health), BC Electric (Hydro), Price Waterhouse, briefly Cupe 15, and throughout her whole life in Vancouver.

Her devotion to family & community, whether that be driving the kids to their many activities, volunteering @ Expo 86, in School PTA’s, or at the Vancouver Public Library, was matched only by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, personally completing 40 courses at SFU’s Senior’s Lifelong learning...including art history, philosophy, religious studies, archaeology, to name but a few.

She could be found whipping it up in the kitchen, creating a sumptuous “baked Alaska”, the famed “pineapple upside-down cake, or many other “mid-century” dessert experiments she expected the children to devour in record haste....and we sure did..

Her love of the outdoors, tending her garden, travelling abroad, hiking local Vancouver trails or walking the annual “Sun Run”, was complimented by a deep love of theatre, the arts, old movies, and her favorite hockey team...the Canucks...Her range of interests and activities were as varied as the stamps she collected & the “sitcoms” she enjoyed.

She leaves behind her devoted daughter Gina (Victor); adoring grandchildren Ashlie ( Jason); Courtney , Gordon & their father Bill; great-grandson Odin; sister in law Rose & family: Richard, Leonard, Carissa, Alexander, Mary; former spouse Sante; sister in law Maria-Graziella & her family in Italy; & many other extended family;…all who cherished her company, her wit and her generous nature.

On behalf of Myrna, Gina and her family wish to express our most grateful thanks to Dr. Karon, his care teams, and all the extended staff of Kopernik Lodge for their immeasurable compassion, assistance & kindness provided to Myrna over these past 6 years. Your endeavours to create a special safe home for her in these final years went above & beyond in so many ways...

Due to Covid, a private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. If you wish to honour Myrna’s memory by way of donations, we suggest you consider the Alzheimer’s Society. Gina & family can be reached via Kearney Funeral Services.
