It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mychajlo (Michael) Mychajlyszyn on Sunday, 18 August 2019 at the age of 93 in Vancouver, Canada.

Beloved husband of Patricia, his wife of 57 years; proud Tato of daughter Anne (Michael), son Slavko (Ruslana), son Michael (Marlis), daughter Natalie (Dennis), and son John (Rachelle); devoted Dido of Grace, Mira, Lucas, Mariana, Zorian and George. Predeceased and survived by numerous family and friends across Canada, the United States, Ukraine, Russia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Mychajlo was born in 1926 in the village of Vasiuchyn, province of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. He arrived in Canada in 1951, was employed 37 years as an auto mechanic in Winnipeg, and spent 30 years in well-deserved retirement first with his garden on his dream acreage in St. Clements, Manitoba, before moving to Vancouver in 2006.

Through his life experiences, he developed a deep sense of principles, the value of education and learning, hard work, resourcefulness, and especially devotion to family and God. Many were drawn to his sense of humour, joy of gardening, cooking, fishing, nature and wildlife, dancing, and playing chess. He was also an avid fan of hockey, soccer, curling and football.

A panakhyda (prayers) for Mychajlo will be held on Monday, 26 August 2019 at 7 pm at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 501 – 4th Avenue, New Westminster, British Columbia. Divine Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, 27 August 2019 at 10 am at Holy Eucharist, Reverend Mykhailo Ozorovych officiating. Internment to follow at Gardens of Gethsemani, 15694 – 32nd Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia.
