Miguel passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 16, 2024.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Aida Maria, his children Patricia (Luigi), Lucia (Gianni), Roberto (Juliana), and Sandra (Robert), and his grandchildren Gabriel, Marko, Cassandra, Marina, Lucas, Breanna, Nathaniel, and Elijah.
Miguel was born in Povoação, São Miguel, Azores, and came to Canada in 1971 to join his brothers in pursuit of a better life. After a work injury, he returned to Portugal, where he met his wife and fell in love. By 1973, they were back in Canada, ready to start their new family together.
Though he was a man of few words, he had the biggest heart. He was a man of integrity with a strong work ethic. He went above and beyond both at work and for his family.
He was a devoted and loving husband to our mom for 52 years and a generous, helpful father and grandfather who always gave of himself to support his children and grandchildren. If we were ever in need, he was there to lend a hand.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: being outdoors, going for long walks, hiking, and spending summer days fishing off the cliffs of Burrard Inlet with his family. He also cherished being part of the Portuguese Community, always looking forward to church bazaars, festivals and connecting with friends.
Our Father’s influence on our family will never be forgotten. He taught us the value of hard work, love, and kindness. We will carry his memory and the lessons he shared with us always.
We will miss his quiet strength, his warm smile, and the way he made us feel loved and supported no matter what. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he will always be with us. - in our memories, in values he passed down and in the love, we continue to share as a family.
