Michele “Mike” Musacchio Strigone was born in Maschito, Italy on December 13, 1936.
Mike left his home at 15 years of age to train as a chef and baker in Switzerland where he worked for many years. His career enabled him to travel and work in many countries including the United States, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. Mike was passionate about learning and was fluent in many different languages.
On October 26, 1968, in Forenza, Italy, Mike married Carmela Ronzano.
In 1971, Mike and Carmela immigrated to Canada where they lived and worked in Toronto. In 1974 the family moved to Port Hardy, B.C, where Mike worked at Utah mines. In 1985, the family moved to Campbell River, B.C. where Mike worked at Westmin. Mike continued his career in Northern Vancouver Island where he was able to enjoy his love and passion for fishing and nature. In 1989, Mike moved his family to Vancouver where his children could pursue a higher education.
Mike is predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe Musacchio Strigone, and Mafalda Corbo. Leaving to mourn him are his wife Carmela, daughter Mafalda, son Michael, daughter Lori, son in law Johnny and grandsons Matteo and Alessio, and his extended family in Italy. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.
A small Celebration of Life will be held on May 12th, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Parish, Vancouver B.C. Due to Covid restrictions only immediate family please. Final resting place is located at Gardens of Gethsemani, Surrey, B.C.
