In one of the stars, I shall be living.
In one of them, I shall be laughing.
And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night.
~ The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Michael Christopher Lawlor left us all much too soon after a year battle with cancer. He was born December 29, 1948 in Dublin, Ireland and died at home October 6, 2011. He is mourned by his wife Ruth Scheuing, brother Donald (Maria), sisters Norrie (Brad) and Alison, nieces, Linette (James), Gillian and nephews Brad, Janic and Nicla, mother-in-law Frieda, brother-in-law Arnold (Lilo) and his many friends.
Michael received his BFA at Nova Scotia School of Art and Design and studied at Banff School of Fine Art. He devoted his life to his art, writing and in supporting other artists. In the last few years he became a dedicated collector of Magic Lantern slides, presenting, interpreting and printing them. He brought back the magic of these old images by giving lantern shows. He was also part of IATSE and worked on many film sets as a painter.
During the last years he was involved in several shows: see his website http://www.mclawlor.ca or check out a review of his show at DOXA 2011(Documentary Film Festival) http://vancouverisawesome.com/2011/06/08/vancouver-was-awesome-the-magic-lantern-view/
