Michael's courageous journey on earth came to a sudden end on the evening of January 27, 2011, after a 34 year battle with brain cancer.  He lived his life with dignity, spirit, independence and determination.  His quick sense of humour and gentle demeanor endeared Michael to everyone who knew him.
Michael will be lovingly remembered by parents, Caroline and Wally Hendy of Parksville; sister Laurie Renton (Roger), nephews, Spencer and Benjamin of Calgary; his  aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends.
He attended schools in Prince Rupert, Terrace, Prince George, and Burnaby.   After graduating from Burnaby North Senior Secondary School Michael worked for over 20 years with Telus in Building Operations.    He was given numerous commendations for his hard work and cheerful disposition.
The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, health care workers, support groups and friends who helped Michael travel through his remarkable and difficult life journey.
There will be a celebration of Michael's life on February 19, 2011, at 2:00 PM, at Columbia-Bowell Funeral Chapel, 219-6th St. New Westminster, B.
