It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Meleva also affectionately known as Mel, Auntie Meleva, AM and The Chief Elf on the evening of July 11th with family by her side and in spirit.
Meleva was born to Helen + Nicola Bogdanovich at VGH, the youngest of 3 children and lived her entire life in Vancouver. Mel was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 65 years, Bob (Bozo) Seslija in November of 2017. Auntie Meleva’s passing also marks the end of an era and a family generational transition as she now joins her older brothers Milan + George who unfortunately also prematurely predeceased her.
Mel’s elegant and disciplined life was characterized by her devotion to Family, Friends + Neighbors, Food and Charitable Endeavors. Everyone who attended a Brunch, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, Dinner, BBQ, or Cocktail Party at her home was warmly welcomed with her gracious manner and then after being well fed would invariably leave with one of The Chief Elf’s many signature “Homemade Care Packages Of Treats” be it jam, jelly, antipasto, pickles, cookies, cakes and some of her much loved and cherished cheese scones.
She is survived by her sons Robert (Virginia), George (Marla), her only niece Cara (Mark), and nephews Brian (Karen), Gary (Carolyn), Greg (Patricia), Mark (Marnie) in addition to all of their children.
Many thanks to all of the Friends, Family and Members of Team AM for their unwavering assistance and support this year and their combined daily visits to encourage her recovery whether she was at VGH, Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, UBC Hospital or Amica Arbutus Manor, and finally to the Medical Team at Saint Paul's Hospital who so compassionately and professionally oversaw her final days.
Friends and Family are invited to attend Meleva’s “Final Cocktail Party” at her favorite venue, The Point Grey Golf + Country Club located at 3350 SW Marine Drive on Wednesday, September 18th at 4:00 pm with a short program of speakers commencing at 4:30 pm.
