A Native daughter of New Westminster, born to Frederick Nassau Smith and Katie Annie May Campbell, Mary lived her entire life in the Royal City. She was proud of her heritage and the contributions made by the McInnes, Campbell and Smith families in the city’s early years. She is survived by son Wayne (Sharon), daughter Ainslie, granddaughters Sonja (Oscar), Kathleen, and Laurel (Peter), four great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins in New Westminster and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and her long-time friend Marilyn Parsons. Predeceased by her brothers Joseph Campbell Smith in 1919 and Frederick Hugh Smith in 2009.
Mary was the longest surviving member of St. Aidan’s Presbyterian Church. Being a member of the Coronation Circle and singing in the choir.
Mary was a good listener and quite often knew the right thing to say and if not, there was nothing a cup of tea would not fix.
Interment will be in the Smith Family plot at the Fraser Cemetery. No service by request.
